An award-winning multilingual animation project

Fusion harnessed the incredible bilingual skills that so many UK children and parents have, bringing groups of Somali, Colombian, Bangladeshi and Turkish families together to make stories in their home languages.

A fleet of writer-translators, illustrators, puppetry artists and film-makers collaborated with participants to make four extraordinary animated-shorts – you can view them here, along with an accompanying documentary about the project. ‘Dheeg Dheer’ – the Somali film – won Best Youth Film at London’s Lab Film Festival 2013, while the Bangladeshi film, ‘Granny’s Monster Machines’, took runner-up!
