A national children’s literature festival for schools celebrating reading & inspiring writing

Pop Up Festival 19th-30th June 2017

Our national children’s literature festival brings literature to life in schools across the UK. Every year, hundreds of classrooms in primary, secondary and SEND schools are connected with exceptional books and their authors for a celebration of reading for pleasure, creative writing and visual storytelling.

Throughout summer term 2017, 10,000 children age 3-14 in 40 schools read 170 book titles by 100 children’s writers and illustrators. Then over two weeks – 19-30th June – the authors delivered 400 exciting class workshops (many in local libraries, museums and galleries) to kick-start pupils’ creative writing and illustration. 2017’s programme also saw 8,000 books supplied to participating primary, secondary and SEND schools in Kent, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, Shropshire and South West Wales.

You can check out the programme of events on this page (just click on the ‘Pop Up Festival programme’ on the left).
