Pop Up: Transforming Lives through literature - Pop Up

We are Pop Up Projects CIC

We’re a national non-profit children’s literature agency on a mission to invest in, up-skill, empower and advocate for a more diverse next generation of children’s book creators.

This is how we do it.

Training & Mentoring

Pathways Into Children’s Publishing are our pioneering creative and professional development programmes for aspiring writers, illustrators and publishers.

Delivered collaboratively with UK publishers and universities, Pathways are especially for talented creatives whose experiences, communities and cultures are under-represented in children’s books.

Watch this short video to hear from our mentees about how Pathways has nurtured their progress.

Publishing & Showcasing

We also facilitate opportunities for writers and illustrators at all stages in their careers, in the UK and internationally, to make, publish and share their children’s stories with young readers.

This includes major digital publishing ventures like Children For Change, collaborations with traditional publishers, community publishing projects, and public exhibitions and events.

Fundraising

With 14 years experience of transforming lives through literature in every region of the UK, we’re now fully focussed on increasing Pathways Into Children’s Publishing opportunities nationally. From 2025 we want to offer 120 subsidised places every two years, supporting brilliant creatives to access the learning opportunities and platforms to kickstart careers in children’s books.
