Pop Up Festival is a game-changing, school-wide celebration or reading and writing that has a proven transformative impact on pupils’ literacy behaviours, skills and achievements, as well as teaching practice.
Classes from nursery up to year 13 are supplied with sets of quality contemporary books, selected by teachers from an annual booklist. Teachers are then resourced to lead an immersive, creative reading and writing programme, culminating in inspiring workshops by the authors of the books as part of the national festival in June and July.
This highly impactive arts-based learning model creates a school-wide buzz and momentum, and can truly invigorate literacy, English and cross-curricular teaching and learning.
“The academic year would never be the same without Pop Up. Every year it creates a buzz of excitement across the whole school. Pupils tell us it’s the favourite part of their learning, and teachers tell us that learning during Pop Up is more meaningful” Headteacher, Primary School
