Bringing history alive through literature!
We love bringing literature to life through partnerships with historic places and heritage organisations.
Between 2016 – 2018 Pop Up worked with Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) learning and participation team to bring amazing stories to life through children’s literature at three London palaces.
The three year programme involved 30 classes participating in on-site workshops by children’s authors – making connections between their books and the rich histories of three sites. The goal was to bring historical stories to life for young readers, deepening their understanding of the heritage being explored. In advance of the author experiences, authors and teachers came together to co-plan schemes of work around the books.
HRP also hosted two of Pop Up’s professional development days for children’s authors, at Hampton Court Palace and Tower of London, attended by over 100 children’s writers and illustrators, to develop and enrich their education practice.
