Fusion Multilingual Film Project

Children and families collaborated with writers, artists and film-makers to produce four award-winning animated shorts in their home languages.

Parents and children from four communities – Somali, Turkish, Bengali and Columbian – were given the opportunity to work collaboratively with puppeteers, illustrators, translators and film-makers to translate and transform stories from their home language into animated films.

Fusion harnessed the families’ bilingual skills to create unique intergenerational storytelling.

The Somali film Dheeg Dheer won Best Youth Film at London’s Lab Film Festival 2013, while the Bangladeshi film, Granny’s Monster Machines, took runner-up.

You can watch all four films and a film about ‘the making of’ below!
