Pop Up Festival places exceptional books and author-led workshops at the heart of learning, creating a school-wide buzz that stimulates reading enjoyment and builds confidence and literacy skills. Join the hundreds of primary, secondary and special schools and PRUs across the UK who are already seeing the transformative impact of our inspiring reading and writing programme.
We create an annual programme of quality contemporary picture books, novels, poetry, non-fiction and graphic novels. We do this by drawing on our relationships with hundreds of culturally and ethnically diverse children’s authors and their publishers. You choose a text and author that meets the needs of your pupils and school curriculum.
Pop Up Festival empowers teachers to immerse their pupils in a creative reading and writing programme. We supply you with class sets of your chosen texts, access to high-quality resources, support from our education team and the authors themselves – but you’re in the lead!
Pop Up Festival culminates in inspiring workshops by the authors of your books. All of our author workshops are interactive – featuring opportunities for children to write, draw and create. Classes can also meet their authors in local libraries, museums, galleries, heritage and outdoor spaces, connecting books and stories to places and artefacts.
Our education team is composed of experienced educators, children’s literature experts, visual literature and cultural education specialists. We’re here to provide you with bespoke support every step of the way – from choosing the perfect texts, to planning your approach. You can even ask the author for advice! We also offer CPD sessions, giving you and your colleagues opportunities to learn directly from published writers and illustrators.
