Learn how to structure and execute compelling visual narratives in both picture book and comic forms – using frames, page turns and spreads to create engaging and rewarding children’s books.

In this Short Course, you will understand some of the fundamental skills of sequential storytelling including the value of thumbnails and storyboards to pace your story and spot unintentional patterns, understanding the use and value of compositional space in a sequential narrative and understanding that sequences depend on the audience being able to track consistent elements across the story.

By the end of this course, you will have produced three similar character designs that can be repeated multiple times with the audience being able to distinguish them each time, a page of comic book sequential art with before and after plans, and a storyboard with each ‘page’ of the sequence visible on the same sheet.
