In this day-long course, Yasmeen Ismail and Louise Jackson will introduce themselves, providing an overview of their work, their professional backgrounds, their working relationship together, and their experience of working collaboratively in producing a picture book.
You will explore what makes a good picture book, how to develop initial conceptual ideas for picture books, and how these concepts are further developed into final publishable illustrations. You will complete tasks focussed on character design for Picture Books, and will learn how to plan for spreads.
There will be opportunities to partake in friendly and helpful group discussion, allowing you to receive positive instruction and the opportunity to inform your future illustrative practice. We aim for you to leave the session feeling inspired, with the increased ability to come to conclusions about your own illustrative processes, along with an increased knowledge of helpful tips and strategies.
