Chloë Gwatkin
What if Cinderella didn’t want to marry and Tinkerbell wanted to roam the fairy wilds as a daring explorer? What if Rapunzel let out her glorious 4c curls? What if an ABC book was beautiful enough to be displayed in an art gallery? These are some of the questions that energise Chloë to put pencil to paper and stylus to tablet.
After studying BA (Hons) Illustration and interning at Hallmark Cards, Chloë joined the SCBWI and realised that children’s illustration perfectly encapsulated her captivation with vibrant colour, uplifting themes and empowering fiction.
Fuelled by mentorships with Disney artist/teacher Chris Oatley, Chloë uses animation techniques to bring vivacity to her characters and believability to her world-building. She is currently author-illustrating her picture book teaching girls to be unafraid to follow their dreams in the face of pervasive pressures to be beautiful.
