Clare Storry

Clare worked in healthcare and medical research before getting back into drawing in 2017. Her hobby turned into a passion and she studied illustration part-time at City Lit in London. She’s always had a keen interest in children’s books and enjoys experimenting with colour, character design and coming up with story ideas. Clare hopes to bring humour and compassion to difficult topics such as the climate crisis while creating images and telling stories children will love.

As well as capturing life in her sketchbooks, Clare is a self-confessed nerd who loves exploring and learning, from museums, to visiting new countries, to the natural world. In another life Clare would have been Charles Darwin, David Hockney or David Attenborough but making children’s books is pretty exciting too.

I’m excited to learn from the wealth of knowledge available on the Pathways course. The breadth of tutors, including publishers and agents, as well as authors and illustrators, is a big draw for me, as is the accessibility and inclusivity of the programme. I can’t wait to get stuck in!
